A special note from the Family to Friends and Loved ones

Eulogy

“Grandpa was a family man. He gave the best advice, provided for his family and he loved us all greatly.” He always worried over us like most parents do.

Much can be said about my Dad, he was as many of you know a hard worker, a great husband, a fantastic provider, but most importantly a family man.  He loved his parents and siblings and provided daily care for his parents in their later years.  He stressed the importance of Education in all of us, and he always instilled in us that it was important to be kind and respectful to everyone, no matter their title in life.

He was always full of advice and reminded us to save, save, save, and be frugal.  Anytime we would discuss a business venture or investment or some other large purchase, he would commonly say, “Have you put the pencil to it!”

My parents were one of the original founders of the Mr. and Mrs. Social Club, and remained members for 50 years.  It was during these years that my parents attended many dances, live music events and remained socially active with many couples in the Brownsville area.  As an administrator for BISD, he was a good role model to many students.  He was an Asst Principal at Homer Hannah Highschool and a Principal at Central Jr. High.  He retired at the age of 55.  After retirement, he continued to inspire and mentor many student teachers at the University of Texas Brownsville as teachers were beginning their career in teaching.  He provided lots of advice to our own family members who became teachers and provided my own wife with the sample curriculum to begin a new Bilingual program in Beaumont Texas in 1993.  As you hear from comments, Education was a key component to his life.

His Favorite song: Olvídate de Todos Menos de Mi (Jose Alfredo Jimenez)

His Teaching advice: “Always write your learning objective on the board.”

His Life lessons: Punctuality, Respect and Honor

A special note from the Garcia family:

We wish to thank  JC/Christy Ortiz, Paul/CindyRodriguez, Conrad/Alice Boden, Mario/Diana Cisneros, Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Sylvia Garcia, Copperbrook HOA from Houston, Dr. Valle and Birds of a Feather for the beautiful gestures, hospitality, flowers, and keeping the family nourished during this difficult time.  Your thoughts and kindness are much appreciated and we love you dearly.

A very special appreciation and Thank you to Joe Lopez and Luis Garcia from Amor Eterno who provided the daily care for my dad, and the Hospice Nurses from Our Caring Hands who provided not only a professional service but also a service with kindness and compassion.  We are forever indebted to you for your time and daily attention caring for our loved one, Alfredo Garcia. It is because of special people like you that make the passing of a loved one much easier while giving comfort and care with dignity and respect.  Our Dad and loving Husband would have wanted it this way.  In the end, our dad passed peacefully, surrounded by a loving family and with all the prayers and comfort we all could provide.

Thank you to our Tia Carolina who visited everyday, brought breakfast for my dad in the early hours of every morning, helped with exercises, said daily prayers and remained by his side until the time of his passing.  Thank you to our mom for providing all the endless love and support for many years while our dad’s health was in decline.  She saw it all and did so much.  She also coordinated so much for his care and expressed her love in so many ways.  We know our dad is in a better place.  This is what our faith teaches.  Now he will watch over us.

Thank you to everyone for attending today.  Our family is forever grateful.
